The Power of Stoicism in Modern Leadership

In an era marked by rapid change, uncertainty, and complex business challenges, leaders need a solid foundation to remain calm, rational, and empathetic in their day-to-day decision-making. One powerful source of inspiration is the philosophy of Stoicism—a value system and set of principles over two thousand years old, yet timeless in its relevance to the modern world. This philosophical school, shaped by ancient Greek and Roman thinkers such as Seneca and Marcus Aurelius, has much to offer today’s leaders.

As part of the Business Intelligence Club program “Non-Corporate Leaders for Corporate Leaders,” we had the honor of welcoming Mr. Jonas Salzgeber from Switzerland at Muse Events House. Mr. Salzgeber is a prominent Stoicism researcher, author of “The Little Book of Stoicism” (translated into 23 languages), co-founder of NJlifehacks, company focused on personal development through ancient wisdom and modern science.

Stoicism is a practical philosophy that teaches that anyone can live a successful life regardless of their external circumstances. It encourages us not to waste our energy on things beyond our control, but to take an active role in shaping our own lives while cultivating healthy desires and habits. The Stoic mindset is especially valuable in uncertain times, as it helps us focus, remain composed, and find inner peace—even in the midst of life’s turbulence.

During the lecture, Mr. Salzgeber presented various techniques and processes that help individuals shift their mindset in order to change their perspective on a situation and return to a state of calm. This involves identifying and challenging distorted or negative thinking patterns and replacing them with more balanced and constructive ones. At its core, Stoicism is both a principle and a strategy that empowers us to express our true selves in the present moment.

After the engaging lecture, participants enjoyed informal conversation with our guest from Switzerland. Each attendee also received a special gift from the Business Intelligence Club: a copy of “The Little Book of Stoicism,” personally signed by the author, Jonas Salzgeber.
