Panel “What can business strategy learn from military and war strategy?”

After the summer break, on Wednesday, September 13, as part of the “Non-Corporate Leaders for Corporate Leaders” activity, we held our first fall event for members of our Business Intelligence Club. This time we chose something completely different for the topic of the business panel, and we talked with our panelists about “What can business strategy learn from military and war strategy?”.

Phrases such as “we have won the battle for industry leadership” and “we have defended our position in the market” are military phrases that are also used to express success in business. The very language of corporate strategy is also deeply imbued with military references such as chief executive “officers” (officers) in “headquarters”.

Strategy aims at a result in the future and tactics aims at a result now. How to balance strategy and tactics? Should manipulation be an acceptable method in management? What set of virtues and flaws affected the military success of Duke Živojin Mišić? What are Donald Trump’s negotiating secrets?

We discussed these and many other interesting questions regarding business, management models, negotiation strategies, relationships with clients and colleagues, fears, manipulation with our respected guests: Nemanja Antič, founder of Military shop, Dr. Aleksandar Misojčić, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, acting director of the National Academy for Public Administration, Dr. Dejan S. Miletić, and Lt. Col. Dr. Goran Radovanović.

For the first time, we organized the panel in our premises of a beautiful villa in the heart of Vračar. After the successful and extremely inspiring panel, members and friends of our business club enjoyed exchanging opinions, talking with the panelists while being served and served with wine from the young local winery Anatea.
